Thanks. I understand that a company gave you a shot and allowed you to get off the ground. I understand that you are grateful. But I would bet the house that you would have brought good work ethic to any job you got.

@Roadrum , I sincerely hope you didn't take my "Koolaid" comment early on as a dig on or against you, that was never my intention..

I have had many "new" jobs in my lifetime and the first few hours/days/weeks/months they were the best job on the planet. However time goes on, the fresh pitcher of "Koolaid" runs empty and soon the reality sets in of exactly what the job is. I had one of those jobs where they didn't hire 1% of applicants, they hired 1 applicant, that was me and I didn't apply, I was sought out by a head-hunter. And since then I have been sought out by more head-hunters for similar jobs in the same industry and my answer to them is "no thank you, I'm not interested". That was the most amazing AND miserable job I ever had. I wouldn't trade one single second of it for anything else but I also will never do that again now that I've had a large pitcher of being in my own bed every night Koolaid. The hours were horrible, the work was back breaking, the pay was mediocre but the satisfaction was beyond belief. We would be so beat down by the end of a long event like Sturgis that we couldn't wait for it to get over and swore we never wanted to do it again. A week after it was over we would be counting the days till next year and couldn't wait for it to get here. Same with Daytona (twice a year), Myrtle, Laconia, Vegas, Lone Star etc.

I still do a little work in the custom motorcycle business for a couple of contacts I made while in the industry but that's no longer my "job", I do it because I'm asked not because it's expected with my paycheck. I can kindly say no without fear for my income. I can pick and choose where and when I want to help out and the pay for doing that is far better than I made as an "employee".

My point early on in this is to wait till the excitement of the new gig wears off and you get a feel for how the job really is then let us know. There is much to be said for the euphemism "till the honeymoon is over". I've had jobs where the honeymoon lasted a day and others where it lasted months but in the end there is an end to the honeymoon at almost every job.

And to add to that, I was just called on my cell phone 15 minutes ago by a motorcycle aftermarket manufacturer asking me if I would be interested in doing some contract work running one of their show rigs next season. I gave a number and he never blinked so..................

Left the office again, moved to Arlington, WA over the weekend and begin my new career as "Event Tech 1" at the casino tomorrow. No more transportation, no more job following me home after work and paid by the hour so get paid for the amount of time I'm there. Put an offer in on a house yesterday morning and at 11:00pm last night the realtors called so after some "midnight" negotiations we came to a acceptable offer.

House is a house is a house but the shop, well I will have room for my toys now

And here's the bar upstairs in the shop

I must admit, Kaiser has some great looking equipment but man, the .36cpm and $15 tarp is just not worth it for me with 17yrs accident free and ticket free in the industry.. Especially running LTL freight and i know these guys pull some decent paying freight. When I'd run military freight i'd see these guys on base or at the gates, and i always thought their drivers made at least .45cpm or something.. But to each their own, we all have our wants, needs and desires..

I don't care what the truck looks like I made .38cpm with JB Hunt all the way back in 1998!
