Lol! It was clean and shiny 2 days ago, Ohio roads in the winter are a major pain to keep trucks clean!
I just spoke with the guy that based in Rhode Island, I even looked in his cab card. 10 wheel truck registered for 66,000 pounds in all ifta jurisdictions. He did have what looks like a 72 inch spread on the drives.
I just spoke with a scale house and according to them moving the axle isn't going to help much. But he did however inform me that my actual GVW is only 60k not the 62,500 that I had originally thought. So I have been carrying way over my payload for quite some time now. :/
What kind of bed do you have? Brand name? I have been looking into Street truck bodies lately… Just can’t keep my mind from turning -_- Knapheide has a heavy hauler model, 26 foot worth is still under 2900 pounds, no matter the floor type. https://www.knapheide.com/files/sou.../Product-Specifications/PFPP05-B_20171009.pdf
All steel 26.4' x 102" wide....with cross members every 12"...very heavy duty....and then all new 5/8" apitong ship lap decking. It was the thickest I could find. It looks like they don't offer apitong?? Wierd!? Mine would be close to their 26.4 with steel deck at 4106lbs....I think...
I have a Morgan bed now with 12" spaced crossmembers. I've been checking out Raven bodies but I'll check into the others. 2900lbs sound really nice!!
That's almost exact to my current setup but with a steel treadplate deck. It's way too heavy duty for what I do
My only worry is that a lighter bed is gonna ride really really bad when empty! Sometimes, on certain roads, I wish my bed weighed 2k more! LOL.
