Word on the streets is all company solo drivers will be getting the lightweight trucks. There has been no official word from the higher up's about it, but the rumor mill certainly is flying. There is also a company solo driver on another forum who stated she got one and didn't have a choice in the matter. I was in Sprimo a few weeks ago and met two drivers who got them. One just completed his upgrade and the other just turned in his old truck and got the Pete. Again, no choice in the matter. It's going to be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

Is that a bad thing to get one of these trucks?

The sleeper area is about half the size of a Century (coffin sleeper). There is a small area for a TV, a 9 or 10 inch wide space to hang up a few clothes, and the bed is smaller. No top bunk. Virtually no storage space in the sleeper area. You also can't stand up in them. The cab itself is pretty small too. No passenger seat, extremely limited storage space, etc. Many of them do not have APU's either, although it seems like most are getting auxillary heaters and power inverters. It all really just depends on how much stuff you have on the truck. If you're used to having a lot of things with you, then yeah, it's pretty bad. I personally don't want one, but will probably end up getting one in March when I turn my current truck in.

I thought that I heard the lightweights were being used for regonal company drivers. Any word on that?

OTOH, a lawn chair may work in that empty spot. :biggrin_25523:
