    so far training has been good one "trainer" was completely oblivious what he was doing but I got square away real quick by a real trainer have done air and pump work hopefully I only have a few more days since I want to squeeze a load before I go on my preplanned vacations, training pay does suck 150 a day as a o/o so luckily I had a big breathing account, I was able to sit down with a owner operator from another terminal he loaded out of Hoboken going to Wisconsin for 2300(843) to the truck about 2.72 a mile plus pump use and miscellaneous charges , he also told me that company allowed empty miles even as a o/o is 21 cents a mile(he says it cover diesel and only does it to go to pickup a good paying load 6k(to the truck) from Louisville,ky to upstate ny) he said that he is home on weekends and clears about 3 to 3500 a weeks. my truck modifications is about to set me back 5k so I'm going to hold off on it and the company will let me use one of the trucks in the terminal and charge me about 390 a week for using it(few kw automatics) (think of it as a walkaway lease) until I feel completely comfortable with the company and bring my accounts up a little bit.

    I don't believe KY to upstate NY pays $6k to the truck........

    me neither so I was trying to do the math and while I know tankers pay good but 6 plus dollars a mile but we are truckers and theres always someone lying to make them look like a super trucker but I do have my must take home weekly and it seems to be easy to achieve here.

    So how does it work there do you use a loadboard to find loads or do they dispatch you?

    It make be one these "OH CRAP!!!!" Loads that some plants do because of bad planning.

    Owner operator get choices of the loads available at your home terminal once you go on the road it's based on whatever the nearest terminal has available but supposedly Baltimore, Columbus and Canadian terminals guarantee you loads back to this area but it's home on weekends unless you decide the other way

    Nobody wants to come to the northeast so it makes sense... Just like dry van come in for good money come out cheap

    Just FYI ... Other terminals cater to their own drivers. I got burned couple of times when I accepted loads from other terminal ( loading time pushed the next day or loading my trailer way too late to kill my 14 hours ) Make sure you make your money going out
