SS750 is a good amp. I wouldn't consider it a Cadillac but good enough for SSB/CW work. NOT AM.
I prefer the larger amp Ted made.
The last one I saw for sale was at $750, the $1000 seem to be overpriced, there was some knockoffs floating around for a while but I think they all melted down.
Anyone have one?rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I don't actually have one but if I was to go out and purchase an amplifier that's the one I would purchase if I could find one.
Otherwise I'll just have to settle for this Texas Star DX 1600 that I'm having rebuilt from scratchbored silly Thanks this. -
I grew up about five blocks away from Henry radio so a bunch of people I knew had them back in 1987bored silly Thanks this.
-
So you know Ted?
-
I was looking thinking on getting that Texas star class a/ b and c 1600 dx thru jokerman awhile back but decided against it... the price for it with the Toshiba pills and the fact that I don't run the one I've got full or all the time made me decide against it....

No excuse, you should have ask for a job there, he may have given you one and you would have learned a lot more. Don't think he was retired yet in '87.
Nice guy, I don't know if he is still alive. Talked to him 10 years ago (I think) but the last I heard he was still kicking 5 or so years ago at 94.bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
