@45 miles with 4 watts I have no worries. If you need an amplifier to come close, it means you have antenna problems.

There's already so much arguing going on in this thread, imagine what it would sound like if your radios were making contact with each other.

    Rabbi,

I've been doing this stuff l a long time, I also have the education and licenses to with the experience to back the licenses.

You slammed me pretty hard on a subject you know little about. You seem to be repeating things that were repeated ten, twenty even thirty years ago. I keep hearing the same thing that most of it is written down and repeated Ad infinitum by a lot of people who for the most part never got past basic electricity theory.

When you guys speak of amps, remember a few of us around had a hand in designing them, building them, modifying them and fixing them. I get how to read the specs, know what they actually mean and know the math behind all of it.

SO I will repeat this -
once you get behind the curtain and see what the wizard is really doing, you would be old school too.

Half of what is posted is wrong, the other half is not easy to explain and even the third half lacks anything to back it up.

That's about it Bored, in other words, you do the best you can with the amp, don't over drive it and take care of it, but it also means don't listen to all the BS about saturation of the device or what class works.
