Whether other members agree or disagree with either one of you I dont see the point in taking sides and joining in on the endless debate.

Dont really care to know, that type of distance as impressive as it is really doesnt interest me, because it isnt something thats usefull out here on the road. Cb radio ( citizens band) is defined as a system of short range communication ( avg. 5 to 10 miles) between stations, and from my experience that is really what matters to drivers is whats going on 5 to 10 miles ahead. Its like my GPS will inform me of a backup 60 miles ahead, but by the time I get there it will probably no longer exist. Im not going to lie , when Im sitting still killing time, it is entertaining to see how far one can reach out and make contacts to other stations, but usually if you hear someone 30 miles away and they are talking with others closer to them they more than likely will never hear you but its fun to listen. When Im on hometime, we have a group of locals ( 15 or so) that regularly talk on ch 17, but everyone is within about 15 miles of my location so a stock 4 watt radio with a wilson 1000 is adequate. In my 20 years of driving Ive run cobras, galaxies, general lees, and now BC 980 and it serves my purpose just fine, and in my pickup Ive run various amps ( mentioned before here) ranging from I guess 150 watts on up to 300+ watts and now just run stock Galaxy 99v2, conclusion is to each their own, what ever works and floats your boat, Rock On!!!

Grumpy if you are still monitoring this thread that you started, even though it no longer relates to your original post, three radios come to mind that produce the 100 or so watts you are looking for. First the Galaxy DX 47 HP , next is the General lee HP 40, finally the Magnum Raptor which is rather unique because it has a RFX 75 installed that can either be turned on or you can turn it off and just run radio as a standard 30 to 40 watt dual final radio. I used one in my pickup for a while and really liked it, good transmit, good recieve, loud modulation. One more radio is the Stryker 955 that some of the members are using, it produces around 70 watts which should be more than enough to talk.

The point is this put Craig's 955 Stryker in probably any truck but a cascadia and a 15 to 20 mile talk receive range is probably easily attainable which is pretty good for out here on the road and a barefoot radio that's had the right work done to it... meaning Mark's work.... the reason I get better range than most is not my radios it's I've got alot more grounding on my truck !!!!! These trucks literally have no grounding... like friggin none
