Linears: Tell me what I need to know before I buy

Not quite sure why you quoted me. I'm certainly not jealous of anyone's equipment. I've got a couple of friends that have something over $100k invested in their ham stations, and I'm not a bit jealous of them. I probably have about $10k tied up in my Flex 6500 and associated antennas and accessories, but all I want out of a CB is a consistent 10-15 mile range on the highway to stay in touch with the other drivers, with the best quality signal I can put out. (I'm allowing myself to count in the ranks as I did a little part-time LTL straight-truck driving back in the day.) I've got a little $200 4w ham QRP rig that packs into a Pelican case about the size of a tackle box that will let me work the world, if that's what I want to do, but it has nothing to do with my CB needs. I've never understood the rationale of spending big bucks for a CB linear, but I enjoy reading about all of the effort that goes into it. It's just totally foreign to me, but that's what makes it interesting. As always, 'ya pays 'yer money & 'ya takes 'yer choice.

Your a very sad little man that all you have to do with your time is do up childish videos... it's more than obvious this forum is all you have in your life. What do you care what radio I run antenna I use or anything else. I could care less what radio your talking on------ guess there's some adrenaline rush talking to someone 45 miles away when its still just 2 people talking on a cb radio weather there 45 or 5 miles away from each other big whoop... certainly nothing I'm seeing to get excited about....that's sad very very sad
