Are any of you o/o's leased on with any liquid chemical tanker companies like Dana or QC? Their websites state you can make 150 to 180k a year.....is this true or false? Greatly appreciate any responses

That's gross and prolly current but low by history. Should be around 225k if busy BUT!!! Here's the key, that's gross ! You'll put about 55% of that in the bank before repairs and fuel . If you're a good manager and pick carefully, maybe a little more. Depends on carrier base customers like Dow, cheap and heavy and sometimes complicated. They have one product that runs from Freeport to Midland , MI. , very temp sensitive with specialized glycol heating system tied to gps while in transit. 12 hr check calls, long loading and unloading, dangerous if becomes unstable and just a pain in the arse. Nothing but std rate for the driver....pft, keep it. Why would you?

No idea on them two companies. I am leased to miller and already reached 180k for the year and have only ran 86k miles. chemicals are slow right now. Dana I hear is a pretty good company to lease onto and QC ive never heard anything good about them. miller runs elogs via QUALCOMM and QC does via blackberry. Not sure on Dana believe they still run paper. either way im leaving the chemical hauling sometime around the first of the year. will say this the first few months of the year are the best time to haul chemical and make money rates are high and everything is booming right now rates are down and everybody trying to get what freight there is. will stay like this prob until the end of the year

Appreciate the response chalupa....this gives me a good idea about the pay. I used to drive for Rogers Cartage as company driver and I've been to that Dow plant in Midland a couple of times for pickups. Ok, thanks again

Thanks for the reply craggy1962....sounds like you're doing pretty good at Miller. Yea, I ran elogs on Peoplenet for Rogers Cartage couple of years ago....didn't like it at all. Prefer paper logs but I know most everybody is going elogs now adays.

the elogs haven't bothered me but I hate them. I agreed to do them when I came here and when I leave I wont go back until mandated and will still try to get around them. I would leave now but its slow everywhere and don't see the good sense in jumping ship right now when im still doing ok revenue wise. plus when I do leave I want to go somewhere that fits me best. have even thought going with my own authority but will wait and see.

So you'll stay hauling liquid chemicals with your own authority?

either chemicals, fuel, or go back to end dumps but will stay in bulk. I may or may not go own authority. whatever I decide works best for me.

You should gross around $180K-$225k and if you take the plunge you've gotta go percentage of the gross rate.
dont even consider being paid by the mile IMHO. If you do you're shorting yourself. Thus, those numbers I quote are in line with being paid percent which averages 62-65% which is what I'm getting. Hauling chemicals is pretty good right now. Plenty of freight where I'm at but can drop off around Xmas time. I used to haul gasoline. No regrets doing this.
    Good luck
