Ok this is what is happening to me so far since i got my CDL CLass A

ok from jump street. i couldn't find a company that would pay for me to get my CDL's. i ended up paying for them myself ($3,895). thinking i would be a free agent and have all the openings i wanted. WRONGE. witch all i done so far it seem's is waste my money. Yeah i do have a Felony From 11/12/2000 for battery. even tho its almost 9 year's old. All of the big companys won't take me. even tho i have a very clean DMV, Work Record, i Even have 3 months that i can fall back on. i also had some tell me they couldn't use my 3 months b/c it was on a CDL CLASS A PREMIT. it's still a cdl a licnese right. so here's what i have came up with

    FELONYS
if its not pass 10 years forget it. if it has to do with DRUGS, DWI/DUI, WEAPONS. you won't be hired. even if you find a company that say's " no felonys in the last 3 to 5 to 7 year's" they lie to you about it. if they run you and see it no matter how far back it is. they can still use it.

Here Is What i found out that The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Say's about Felonys. "(Felony means an offense under State or Federal law that is punishable by death or imprisonment for a term exceeding 1 year.)((6) Using the vehicle to commit a felony other than a felony described in paragraph (b)(9) of this table.)((9) Using the vehicle in the commission of a felony involving manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a controlled substance.)(The State must disqualify from operating a CMV for life each person who is convicted, as defined in §383.5 of this subchapter, in any State or jurisdiction of a first offense, of using a CMV in the commission of a felony described in item (9) of Table 1 to §383.51 of this subchapter. The State shall not apply the special rule in §384.216(b) to lifetime disqualifications imposed for controlled substance felonies as detailed in item (9) of Table 1 to §383.51 of this subchapter.)((c)(2)(v) A felony involving the use of a commercial motor vehicle.)". so when companys tell you they can't hire due to what the FMSA say's there LIEING

    MISDERMEANORS
if it has to do with DRUGS, BATTERYS, COLD CHECKS/BAD CHECKS, again you won't be hired. some say they only go back to 5 year's. again they lie to you if its there and they can see it. they will use it

    APPS
the ones that look like this . if you see this APP everything you just seen on that site. just went out the window. this app ask for everything. the companys that say no felonys or misdermeandors in the last X so many years. they use this app to get pass what they just said they require from you.

    Recruiters

THEY WILL LIE THERE BUTT OFF. don't trust them. remember they only get payed if they get you in there school. i had a recruiter from MTC lie his butt off. i told him everything up front. he at 1st was truthful to me. told me with my felony being only 8 years old i would have trouble finding anyone to take me. i said fine how about if i payed for it myself. this is when he started his lies to me.1st Lie. he told me since i already had my CDL CLASS A premit i wouldn't have to go threw the hole school. i ended up doin a 40 hr class room. 2nd lie. then he told me i would only be there for about 5 to 7 day's. i was there for almost 3 weeks and a 170+ hours of training. 3rd lie. he told me i would since i was paying for it myself. i would have my pick of companys to go to (over 300). im still looking for you 300 companys. 4th lie. since i was paying for my own schooling i would have my own room. i was in a room with someone else. 5th lie. told me the place i would be staying at. was in a really good area. was nice and clean. and i didn't have anything to worry about. i ended up in a high crime area. i had to go to wal-mart and spend $60 on cleaning stuff to clean my room. just so i could stay in it. and my wifes car was almost broken into. i came out and seen them fixin to do it. so don't trust anything they say. make sure you look into it. call the school yourself. looking in to the area they will be puttin into. to make sure you will be safe at night

    Companys

Here Are The Biggest Lieing Trucking Company's Out Here Today. So Run Fast From Them

    ok, heres the truth.
1, quite complaining, you should have done all your research on getting your CDL before spending 3800 buck.
2,you dont get CDL's, you get one single CDL.
3, Recruiters, they lie DUH!!!!!!!!!!!:biggrin_25516: thats what they get hired to do!!
    4. your record.. about the misdameaners, you look around on here to read about how most, if not ALL companies, from the itty bitty tiny ones to the big huge ones are limiting their hiring right now cause of the way our country is right now??, evry single company is now able to be picky as to who they hire
    let me ask you this..
lets say you own a company, and you need to fill 10 positions, and you have 20 people that applied for the job,
10 of them are 100% clean all around.
    10 of them have felonies,
    who will you hire???
i would hire the 10 clean guys... why? cause my trust lever would be better with them, over the 10 with felonies. but thats just me...
    who would you hire??
do you think dispacther are 100% honest too?? nope, they lie just like the others. they promise they will get you where you wanna go when your done your run, to find out you heading off in the oppisite direction of where you want to go.
    and about the

    ok here we go....
Here Are The Biggest Lieing Trucking Company's Out Here Today. So Run Fast From Them
Celadon Trucking Services, Crete Carrier Corp, Heartland Express, JB Hunt Transportation, J&R Schugel, Schneider National, Swift

Transportation, USA Truck, Watkins and Shepard Trucking, US Xpress, Panther Expedited, PGT Trucking, Marten Transport, WEL Companies, C. R. England, Pam Transport, Prime Inc, Werner Enterprises

i can tell yo that most of these companies are actully decen companies to work for. if you got rejeceted from SWIFT, then you should have gone no further then that... if watkins shepard didnt hire you, then its because of only a few things.
    1. you didnt go to a appoved school for them.
    2. what you told them and what you filled out on your app didnt macth up. thus making you look like a lier :biggrin_2554:
    3. your work history was not stable.
    4. you dont live in their hiring area.. 100 + miles from a terminl.
    5. you could have been rude to them, w.s isnt like the other mentiond above, they dont just hire anyone, its a mid size company, first name basis with everyone. they wont hire mean or rude people,

again, it comes down to this,
the econemy... every single company is hiring the " clean " people, spotliess people. hiring who they want to hire, not what they can hire, every companies turn-over-rate is at an almost all time low right now. which is a good thing, they are starting to weed out the dirty, higher paid, slack workers, lazy workers, low mile drivers, complainer, dis-honest people, cranky people, drivers that say no to all the cruddy loads, they are able to chose who they want cause everyone is scared to leave their jobs in fear they wont be able to find a nother one driving a truck.

when i open my trucking company, ill make sure to hire honst recruiters, and hire only drivers that have never ever had a run in with the law, not even a ticket while driving, and only those who have always had a steady work history. i wont care how great a driver you are, one run-in with the law and you wont work for me.

Shaw Transport, you need to " Listen Up " you have zero need to be mad at any company, trucking is not something you have always wanted to do, if it is, then you would knowing everything you complained about before hand, you would no that you get 1 CDL, not CDL's, before spending 3,895 dollars you really should have done all of your research, you cant say you didnt no where to begin before hand, you have used google and searched " trucking " or something of that nature.
you can rant and rave about how " shtty " getting a job out here is, but the bottem line is that YOU lied to YOURSELF for thinking you were a " free agent " and " all the openings you wanted ". thats rediculas buddy.

so this is what i think about, just MY thoughts and only MY thoughts.

ok for 1 you don't know so don't judge me. and i told how i felt about it. i done my time and im payed up and good with everything in the world. but this was also 8 year's ago. also if you opened up a company as you say. you wouldn't hire someone with a record. so you would also discriminate. witch tells everyone alot about you and the person you are. yeah i may have a felony. but im not skeerd to show or tell anyone. and i said CDL's b/c it was the way i was talking about them. and i told everything up front so as far as you saying my info didn't match up. well your wronge that's something i don't do i lie about anything. also i am a free agent. i can go to who i want to go to with out worry if i sign this and i go to leave am i gonna have to pay it back. plus i was gonna get them anyways. but he didn't need to lie about it. i mean hell if you tell the truth about many people would prolly still go anyway's. and as far as you asking this. "lets say you own a company, and you need to fill 10 positions, and you have 20 people that applied for the job,
10 of them are 100% clean all around.

    10 of them have felonies,
    who will you hire???"

who would i hire. stright up. i would go with both 5 of each. why i'll tell you. what are the chances of the 5 with out anything on them staying as much as people jump from job to job now days. about 6 month's. now lets look at the 5 with felony's how long will they stay. until they feel like goin off the road. b/c it hard for someone with something like that find a job to start off with. so why would they chance leaveing and not finding anything else. so my turn over rate would be 50%. unlike mosto f the companys that are around 150 to 200% STILL. but again it was my thought's on it. im going to work for western in 2 to 3 week's hopefully. and i only have a felony from 2000. everything else about me is clean

well thats good that you everything els is clean on you, sorry if i mis-undetstood what you said about the CDL'S,
and it can be called discriminating, that fine. but im not going to hire someone with a dirty record, my insurance would be higher then someone with a clean record, id still stick with my 10 clean drivers for many reasons,
    1. if they have any type of fighting record, then i would worry that if my shipper/reciever would piss them off they may attempt to start a fight.
    2. if they have a run in with the law, they way want to take charge.
    3. if they come acrossed a rude driver they may take actions into their own hands.. not in my truck!
    4. if they have reckless driving, they may tailgate, or make illegal lane changes, or not use a signal when turning - causing multiable accidents.
just to name a few. and the fact that someone with a record can in fact rasie the insurance cost for a company to hire that driver.
thats good enough for me, if people dont like the way ill hire people... well hell, they need to work for me...:biggrin_25512:

western is an ok company, at least you found a company to take you, i wish you the best of luck, and encourage you to post on here about how things are going there and with the training.
    good luck

The key point here is the language of said companies, with regard to hiring felons.

The majority that do hire felons, state they will consider felons. They are not obligated by law of any kind. File all the law suites you want. It's your money.

The misdemeanor you speak of in your FMCSA description as "battery", is a simple assault. You were charged with a felony. That tells me, your violent act escalated far beyond just striking someone.

And believe me when I tell you. There is not a single day that goes by out here, that I don't want to hit someone. Companies will view that as a negative, on your part.

You'll find someone willing to hire you. It's just going to be very difficult in these times.

yeah i know that guy's i looked for about 3 week's until i found this company. i hope it goes well i called them again today. they told me the same thing they told me last friday. i would take some time to get a trainer open for me. with is fine. i can wait. but i didn't post this to have people to look down or try to make me out to be a lier or something. i posted this just in case some new person was about to do the same thing. yeah there's alot of good info on here but its just little by little i gave it all out there so it would be clear so they know what there about to do. but all info or inputs here are welcomed. just be nice about it lmao

The one thing they don't teach you in school. Is you're going to need a very thick skin out here. It doesn't matter if you have 1 day or 30 years.

You might as well paint a huge bullseye on your back.

Your going to have other drivers dissin you. Customers jumping down your ### for no reason. Customers just plain yanking your chain, because they can. Every worthless POS asking you for a hand out, every time your wheels stop.

And just to add icing to the cake. Whoever you work for, will #### with you on an almost constant basis. In some form or fashion.

And it's actually getting worse, from the post I am reading here of late.
