The best advice is the advice your grandpa would of given. Problem is nobody wants to hear that kind of advice. Following that kind of advice takes work and sacrifices. Today's average joe wants instant gratification and refuses to accept responsibility for their faults.

So anyway, grandpa's advice is to figure out what you did wrong so that caused you to have bad credit, don't repeat those same mistakes and pay of your debts to fix your credit history. Then save up your money by not spending anymore than you absolutely have to in order to survive.

Thats an easy fix. Just get a credit card from your bank and use it responsibly. Use the time that you are building credit history to stock pile cash for getting your new business up and running. The vast majority of new truck owners fail in the first year, it's something like 98%. The number one cause of failure is not enough capital.

Even if you are planning on leasing to a good carrier such landstar or mercer you need large cash reserves. Sure they will give you a fuel card but that doesn't cover unexpected maintenance and repairs, and more importantly the down tinge that goes with them. I wouldn't feel comfortable with less than ten thousand set aside after the initial costs of buying the truck, getting it licensed and issured, and doing a full round of just got a truck maintenance.

You definately want to plan on dunping about two grand into her the moment you get her home. Do a normal pm. Change all Belts and hoses. drain and refill the tranny and rears. flush and refill the coolant system. Things like that. Buying used you have no idea what the truck was subjected to previously so spend some money to avoid spending a lot of money later. A heater hose in your driveway is just a few bucks(the good stuff is like 3 bucks a foot), on the side of the road in the moddle of no where its easily capable of being a thousand dollars for that same heater hose.

If trucking isn’t profitable enough for you why not go try another industry that may suit you better ?

When you go on strike please stay on strike and do not come back to this industry. Find a job that you are good at and leave the professionals alone to get work done. Children have no business being in trucks.
