    Hello Everyone!,

I'm interested in finding Heavy Haul Companies that you can driver for or lease onto that offer training and let you advance at you own pace once you're comfortable and safely instead of having to drudge along for 4 or 5 years starving financially and going nowhere. Is there any outfits left that do this?

To better answer your question -- we need:
    • Where are you located (zip code)
    • How much experience do you already have
    • What kind(s) of freight have you already done
    • Driving history, if any (accidents/tickets)
    • Criminal history, if any (arrests, convictions, etc)
    • Can you pass a drug screening (urine specimen, hair follicle)
    • Can you pass a DOT physical

Transport National is a good one. I knew a couple guys years ago who went there and did well, but we have since lost touch. Not sure what their hiring area is.

    Transport National

Could also look at ATS. They seem to do a variety of stuff big and small. I think @Walk Among Us works there.

Hello. I'm at ATS because a driver and friend from my last company is there and is doing quite well in their heavy haul division. So I came over too. Although I did years of over-dimensional loads at my last company, they aren't giving me any credit on that or starting me at a higher level. So basically I'm doing straight flatbed loads (something they call "specialized" but it's not). It's no-brainer freight. I've literally only done 2 OD loads in 2 months. So I can't really speak to ATS and its pathway to multiple axels and heavy haul. It depends on the driver and who vouches for you is what I suspect. But again, my buddy loves it in his division and hauls a lot of wind energy products.

Unfortunately for ATS,the new hires with no platform trailer experience have to wait 5 years doing flatbed and stepdeck loads before getting into heavy haul freight..this is definitely discouraging..not taking an "L" for the team...

Some stuff that isn't the typical mega-carriers that have been suggested...

    B&H out of Monroe, Georgia
they run consistently in Georgia. I see them all the time at Komatsu in Chattanooga. Mostly SE work. Superior Transportation out of North Charleston, South Carolina they do a lot in GA/SC. Maxim Crane has a dealer in Mableton, I think these guys are union/hourly but I never called to confirm. All Crane in Austell. Guy M. Turner has a yard in Covington, I believe their salary. I wasn't very impressed with the numbers but worth mentioning. Bennett is in McDonough, they own a few different outfits, one of them is bound to be a 'heavy haul' company -- regardless I don't know #### all about them.

Beyond what I've already mentioned, if you want to be home daily, I know Cowin Equipment and Yancey Bros. have a fleet of local drivers servicing their dealers. You may get stuck with a rollback for awhile but could potentially enjoy that sort of thing...

A lot goes through Atlanta daily to the ports in SE. You could potentially look at just about any company that hauls freight regularly in the SE but I tried to give you some guys that have actual yards in the area and aren't a mega outfit. I've spoken to ATS drivers who say the company has a hiring freeze due to the influx of 'drivers' they've hired in recent months tearing #### up. Beyond that, the pay for their heavy haul division is laughable, at best, and is a perfect example of why the rates have gotten to where they are. @ElmerFudpucker could have some other suggestions but I got nothing else.

“Heavy Haul” is a broad term. Why do you want it? And what do you want to do. Windmills, transformers, Equipment, cranes, industrial machines? They are all different. And all require different skills and while they are all “heavy haul” they are different.

If you just want to do it for an ego boost, then no, I’ve got nothing. We have enough “heavy haulers”. Figure out what you want to haul and go from there
