I will admit I have not driven a truck since Dec of 2013. In that time some things might have changed I am not aware of. However, it has been my experience that Walmart won't boot a truck. In the area's where they prohibit trucks, they can have physical barriers up that a truck can't get under. Walmart just wants the truck gone and will call a hook out to tow it away. (booting) has become more of a scam to get parking money. The business calls a booting company out and they boot the vehicle and keep it on till payment is made. Sometimes police place boots. Remember this though about removing these boots with power tools. The police and the company will have all your vehicle information. You get caught destroying a boot and you become subject to a heavy fine and the cost to replace those boots. You might get a boot off and think your home free when you leave the area. That's OK, don't get stopped in that state for a while. They will arrest you. Cutting a boot off is the destruction of property.

It's not Walmart - it's a contractor hired by the property management company. Been a lot of it going on lately, particularly in Georgia and Alabama, IIRC.

I agree with those who suggested contacting the manager on duty at the time, and if you'll still be there when their shift is over, inquire about notification for that person also.
If a "be gone by" time is specified, be sure your HOS rules can accommodate their request.

One manager I spoke with, and said OK, noticed I'd made a purchase. He suggested taping the receipt to my windshield, --- even gave me a strip of tape. Said, "There, now you're a customer. You won't be hassled".
I did that at any Wal*Mart from then on; after asking permission. Never turned down and never hassled. A couple told me if I wanted to drop my trailer to leave a contact number on the trailer.

Now-a-daze, other factors may be involved, --- local ordinances prohibitive of long term parking.
Ontario Mills Mall, in Ontario, California, had a reputation for towing Big rigs parked there, even if they were customers, too bad.
    "You wanna shop here?
    Take a taxi. Or walk.
    It's just across I-10 .
    Two truck stops there".
(There used to be three truck stops, ---
but the Mall bought the property.)

They even snagged a few making deliveries, --- while the driver is away seeking information as to where the hail they're 'sposed to go to deliver. :Tow truck: :Transportation cost angry9:

I am not like some that enjoy the argument and find some pleasure in winning positions. I am admitting here and now I honestly don't know AND will not attempt to say you are wrong. However, if Wally World is leasing property now it is a new one on me and a recent change in direction. Walmart is so anal retentive they hold on to their property so tightly that after they close a store the now for sale property has so many restrictions it would amaze you. This is why I am gobsmacked that Walmart would lease. Again I have no reason to doubt you, just saying this is shocking to me.

I for one think that booting a large vehicle is stupid. Do they boot RVs? I know if I am managing property all I want is for that truck to be gone! Booting it seems counter to this. What this sounds like to me is somebody that actually places the boots said we can get so much money and we will give you a set amount. This is why you if you want to get to the bottom of something you always follow the money. I was with a friend the other day and he took me to the Sams/Walmart in Newport news Virginia just across from the Airport. I took note of at least 10 rigs parked there. In fact, there is truck parking near Best Buy too.
