That was a good local job especially for a guy that had no experience. And wouldn't call it doing time at the other one either fact is that was a good and good paying job, 91 and getting 32cts a mile.
The only reason it went under is the brother of the owner thought the comcheck account was he's personal account.
As far as new trucks go nobody even gave that a thought back then I mostly ran older 80' s model cabovers and loved it so did my coworkers. We only had two hoods at that local gig the one I like the most was the one with Armstrong steering.
As far as that tool being a serial terminater well he wasn't it's just I've never been scared to stand up for myself even if it's on the company two-way and all the other drivers and office workers can here me lol.
I seriously wasn't paying any dues or doing time at some crap co. I got that job with less than a yr ex.
It was an odd place to work though, the guys dad had a local union ltl co. And his kid ran the cans side outta the warehouse non union.

If that is truly the case for you, you're with the wrong company. Even the worst OTR trucking jobs should pay the equivalent of a full-time $20/hr job. NO McDonalds employees and VERY FEW warehouse employees make that kind of money.
I hear "The McDonalds Argument" a lot, and I don't get it. Unless, of course, you are comparing hourly pay and factoring in all of the time spent in an OTR truck. The bottom line is that trucking is one of the few middle class jobs remaining. If people really could make over $40k doing warehouse or fast food work, I'd understand that argument.
Be patient - pretty soon you'll be making REAL GOOD money if you keep your ears open and play your cards right. -
Local daytime work?? Eh, no thanks. I had the opportunity several times. I think I'll be sticking to night shift. Dunno why anyone would subject themselves to local daytime work. Unless it's hourly and in the middle of Nebraska or something

I'm with the lowest paying trucking company's out there right now from what I hear. I'm making 23cpm solo and 17 team. In order to make what I made in warehouse work I would need to get about 500miles a day solo. I Duno if it's normal for weekends to be like this but for the last few weekends I've been sitting around wishing I had a load. My DM has off weekends so that might contribute for them finding me a load. But since I started i haven't been able to get 3000 miles a week one reason is cause of weekends and another reason is cause of receiving date for my load and them not being able to receive it early. I'm getting a bit over 2000 miles a week and after taxes, insurance and everything's it's really living off scraps.I'm just hoping things get better maybe they will learn how I work and throw me some loads that fit my goals and needs. I haven't complained or askedyet. But I might ask my DM soon if there's something he can do to help picking loads for me. It feels like some of these startup company's think we don't have bills back home .

Lots of people who look at trucking think it will be a 40 hour week. A cush job where all you have to do is drive.
When they learn the hard reality of trucking, no matter what type of trucking, they either run the opposite direction, or go ahead and jump into it, thinking, "but it'll be different for me."
Just like certain members here on the forum, that read about the nightmare of leasing, but go ahead and do it anyway. Local jobs suck. Shat pay, get up at 4am, fight traffic for 10 hours, unload your trailer all day, go home dead tired for just enough time to sleep and get up again. Shat pay. I can't live on $20 bucks an hour and local jobs don't even pay that unless you're in NYC. Then you're paying $2500 bucks a month in rent and hanging with all your neighbors who are really nice folks but keep your house smelling like curry no matter how much great stuff and caulk you use.scottlav46 and tucker Thank this.

Hats off to the guys that run local. For me it would be mind numbing. Rather have the change of scenery and experiences. I slept in the dirt enough to cherish a sleeper cab.
