Do you think that is "nuff said"?

Problem Officer?
The window and that mirror are both pretty useless. I've driven trucks with & w/out them. I prefer a decently adjusted fender spot.
Marker lights are a DOT requirement, so it's one more bulb to blow out and get a ticket off of them.
Some wannabe truck SUV's have them although they are not required. I'd like to see some Hummer H2 drivers pulled in to the scales so they can have THEIR logbooks checked. /Andy Rooney -
I appreciate the righteous responses from most of you. However, some it seems, have taken my question as an opportunity to display their lack of education. though I do appreciate Working Class Patriot's humor!
The purpose of this forum is for people who are new or who are interested in the industry to learn. Perhaps those of you who are seasoned think my questions are inane and without merit, but forget not the fact that those who post inquiries have not the experience as you do.
I have sought out and received answers (either by my posts or others) to a majotiy of the questions I have. As for the marker light question-
1. Marker lights are on taller vehicles, regardless of the vehicle's purpose. A pattern of use, if you will. That leads me to wonder if there are certain criteria for such lights.
2. If I, in a sedan at night (positioned laterally closer to my headlights) am travelling on a hilly highway at dark and a truck approches from the other direction I will see the marker lights well before I see the headlights. This would allow me to extinguish my high beams out of courtesy well before they meet with the driver's eyes as the lateral difference between the truck's lights and the driver are great. Again, i wonder if this is the sole or one of many reasons to the lights.
3. Any company, regardless of their function in the econimic society, seldom spends money on trivial yet relatively expensive items. This further heightens my curiousity.
I assume to 'troll' references those that unduly cause others to read their posts, usually out of deception. The title of my post accurately captures the thesis of my writing as a mojority of it referenced the window question. If you believe I posted just to 'troll' you into the marker light question, I must appoloize as my intent fully within keeping of the forum's purpose

Hi, ok i will express my thought's then, marker light are for dot regulations, i heard all the storys on em, one being is the marker light shows how wide the truck is, not true, all usa trucks are set width, , i just wonder why drivers leave them on at truckstop, when there no need too, right side of the truck, i found that little window is pretty much worthless, also those over the door mirrors , just as bad, then had the smart idea of plastering a big flat sheet of distored looking plastic on that window, really bad idea, myself i like the us express idea, put a camera on the fuel tank flairing, and the unit on the dash, then your blind side is coverd, but give me those big spot mirrors on the fenders and i'm good too go, corse there weird looking ones out there too for spot mirrors, half a spot , looking like a marshen helmet best i can describe it, but when i had my tractor i had a small 6 inch spot, not concave type, but the reg one mounted too the top of the driver mirror aimed for the sky, or the top left corner of the trl, ya never know what gonna sneeks up there, very handy doing the caves down in ks,

I was told many moons ago that the marker lights found on class 8 trucks and trailers were to indicate that this was a vehicle wider than 8'. Don't know if that's righteous or not. The small window located in the lower corner of the passenger door is to help eliminate the blindspot found on that side, but like many drivers here, I prefer a well adjusted fender mirror. Another use I've found for that lil window on older trucks in breaking into the ###### thing after I locked ALL my freakin' keys inside!

Cab width does vary on trucks built in the USA. But do not exceed 102".
