i was the idiot that most people laugh at on this forum. The guy who went to Swift school got my CDL and instantly brought a truck right after the first 6 have been horrible for me but i have learned the best way i know how the hard way. My first load was the day i brought the truck a lady on craigslist i found didn't know anything about a lease ran a load from Florida to Mississippi then a load all the way to New York. Once i got the she never answered the phone again. Had to bobtail all the way to Georgia. Lesson learned ruff but I learned ran for another company shortly after there deal was bad 80% of the load USA truck was already raping and any person with an authority was getting. During this time i thought it was cool to go 70 mph everywhere with a cat c-15 lesson learned quickly i ride and hang out with the swift drivers now and im getting 6.2-6.5 miles to the gallon from the previous 5.2-5.5 that lesson took me 4 months to learn. I left them and leased on to a local lady she seemed so great came to meet me in person very nice. I was like I'm in the money now finally an honest person. Didn't last 2 weeks before all her checks bounced in my bank and a repo company called me saying they wanted that trailer i was pulling. I just look to GOD and ask why but it's all a learning lesson i now have enough experiecne to lease on to a replaceable company and know a little more about the trucking industry i don't know it all but I'm going to keep pushing. I love trucking with all my heart i love it more than being home sometimes i feel at home on the road. Meeting people and talking to people new places. Give it now i did make some money during these 6 months but not what I should have and most guys are going to say. I own my truck and i love it I'm going to be pulling flats next week which has always been my dream.
Finances don't want to forget this I'm medically retired from the military so that has kept me a float during this time of madness. Was injured in Iraq. Don't try to do maintenance yourself if you don't know what your doing brought a new muffler and stack from Peterbilt $1300 bucks put it on my self and it fell off somewhere in Texas. Had to buy a new one 2 days later lol. But i love it I just freaking love it. Don't give up on your dream and reach for the stars men. I'm going to be a successful owner operator if it kills me. I've been thru worst may GOD be with you all and i will keep you updated on my experiences with this flatbed after orientation next week i think i have finally found a home. Oh yeah i brought a 2007 Petebilt 387 just love oh yeah i freaking love it.
live laugh learn but keep trying drivers...

good luck.
there was a pharmacist couple years back that did the same dream. don't know what he's doing these days.
and 07's are the worst gas guzzlers in the history of semi's. so be REALLY careful with that gas pedal. the last company i worked for bought 4 2007 freightliners. they governed those trucks to 60 mph. cuz they only get 3.5 mpg.soupsandwich Thanks this. -

Wow!!!!Thanks for reminding me why I least to a comapny for mileage and stop pay. No doesn't pay the 2-3 or even 4 dollars a mile, I'm hearing everyone at the truck stops are geting, but consistant. Pays the bills with some left to stow away for a rainy day.

Have you paid yourself at least a company driver's wage from the time you started?

How did you find these people?

I'm glad your military retirement pay has helped keep you afloat. But it's a shame, that's supposed to be your extra money, you earned it. It's not supposed to be money to finance all these shady, shoddy, low-pay, no-pay losers. Hang in there, somebody on here will point you in the right direction where you will have opportunity to make money and be able to trust the company too.
