I agree with @MACK E-6, 495 is better. It's a 3 lane highway and it bypasses downtown Wilmington.

I'm thinking you hit the Perryville coop. DE normally takes about 25-30 minutes to run through before you hit MD. Anouther 30 minutes and your at the coop. I got shutdown one time there years ago. A lot of truckers will get off the exit before the scales to either stop at the Pilot, or try to bypass the scales by listening to the CB, because that scale house will turn on and off when the line is too long.

On a side note about the Pulaski Hwy corridor, there's a rail line that runs along side it. Mind the low bridges on the side roads.

PA has a scale as well. It's the rest area Northbound on 95 as soon as you pass DE into PA. Most of the time it's not open, but on a blue moon...they'll surprise you.

Sounds like you're having fun with it. I'll be back in action Thursday, off tomorrow also. Wife has some required training to get squared away before her season starts (she drives school bus) so I'm home with the kids. I think I'd be happy for her to be the primary wage earner for a bit, just to switch things up.

I admire your sense of adventure Mike. Makes me wanna do a little OTR. I did that for about a year, and I must admit, there are some things I liked about OTR. I never really looked at it as a job...more of an adventure. Got to see the country, meet new people, places, things I probably would never of done or seen, if I never did OTR. Too bad the pay sucked though. Any how, have fun at your job, and like I mentioned before, there's a couple service plaza islands on your way down to MD. There's one in Newark, DE, that serves SBarros, Chesepeake plaza in Md that also serves SBarros, and the one after that serves Burger King.

    Stay safe.

Thanks Sho. I have a quote on quote day cab local job, but even with a local job, you sometimes get a little bit of OTR action just have to play your cards right. Even for having a day cab job I've gotten to step outside the box and see a lot of things I would have never ever seen like the town of Wayne,PA for example.

It's about oportunities and taking them. When they come up.

Pulaski Highway is the old 40. There are indeed low bridges to the west side of the entire highway supporting the rail line which itself was a MAIN PRR railroad link for all points North and East of Baltimore at one time.

US 1 is a older road and can be used by trucks. Conowingo Dam bears caution. There is a place to eat with a truck on the east (North end) of the dam for maybe three trucks at most.

I-95 was a newer road. We had businesses such as Howard Johnsons on Pulaski Road before there was a 95, and a East Baltimore landfill, marshland area sits near where there was a major 76 truckstop near Joppa. When 95 got built, Pulaski Highway died over decades.

Hatem Memorial I believe was named after a Marine in Korea back in the 50's.

You can still visit Pulaski Highway as it was from the 40's into the 60's prior to the economic failure brought on by 95 online. Hotels, motels, things to do and good food to eat. A side note. Until 1962 or thereabouts, coloreds were not allowed to eat in these places Maryland repealed that law in 63. It was a different time.

There were a number of truckstops along that road. Village and 76 first come to mind. Village was a independant which finally went out of existance roughly 1996 or so. I was one of the last 10 or so trucks to spend the last week of operation overnight for sleeping there. At the time there was a good roach coach serving omlettes and eggs etc for morning.

Everything I remember about 1, 95, and 40 in that entire part of Maryland, points beyond and down south past Baltimore essentially do not exist anymore. It's all literally history, or a memory now.

But at one time it was trucking. You could not travel more than a mile without finding everything from Federal, State and City to heavy industry employment all along there.

That's all gone. Like the Baltimore Harbor once filled with jobs (No excuses... working harbor) now condo towers for those with money everyone else priced out, no jobs)

Baltimore isn't that bad, at least to me. The places I've been to, the streets were plenty wide enough for trucks. I spent years making deliveries around the beltway and in DC as well. Oh...and watch out for Omar and Stringer Bell.....just kidding.

Wait'll you hit 95 thru Philly. There's a nice 25-30 mile stretch there that'll put hair on your chest. Lol. The beauty of it is that it can be a nightmare any hour of the day. Pretty impressive that they could screw a road up THAT bad.
