Considering that every person is different, and each has their own preferences in everything about life, how do you think it is unhealthy?
I mean not counting that a trucking life has to put more effort and intentional living to get healthy food and exercise.

Lived in my truck for two years - long story- anyways it had it's up side and down side .
In retrospect , it was helpful for me and allowed me to get money saved up and fix my life .

    I must be completely nuts.

Retired early 15yrs ago due to some really screwed up circumstances, have to wait for age to start to collect.

Before starting driving 11yrs ago, sold my properties & put everything in storage.

Been living out of one truck or another ever since.

Think longest stretch without taking off was the entire first 4yrs I drove & was only because my cousin got married.

I'm pretty much 24/7/365, but for week or two for taxes. Or breakdowns, medical issues or buying another truck.

Use friend's home for business address, mailing address.

Get mail handoff's passing through couple times a year. Text's me any important mail that comes in.

Would not necessarily recommend it at all to anyone. But, being single with no wife or kids & no obligations.....

Everyone has their reasons, expectations & tolerances.

To be sure, I would not like to see anyone in that situation if it wasn't of their own choosing & desire.

Do hate seeing those out here that are in that situation due to unfortunate or dire circumstances.

Dunno, it's worked out for me so far. But, I am also getting a lot older, too.

We spent last year working 5 on and 2 days off as company drivers.

At the end of May we began as O/O leased on to haul DOD loads and we pretty much stayed on the road. We had A few days off here and there for Dr appointments and family matters but After almost 3 months on the road we hit our goal of being able to pay for the new 53’ flatbed & conestoga kit. We finally just took the last two weeks off.

We have a 48 hr rule, if we are going to sit for 48 hrs then we can get a hotel or base billeting. For instance, we may arrive to a base on Friday but cannot unload until Monday. The trailer is placed in a secure area and we head to the base hotel to enjoy relaxing and a pool. Thus far we have paid for 10 nights. If we weren’t exceeding our weekly gross goals then the hotels wouldn’t happen. ;)

going forward I see us doing 2 weeks out and 1 week home.

I spent excessive times in the truck. Normal 3 months out, two weeks home. I spent 6 months out one summer, 5 another. It's not good. Especially doing reefer. Lived overtired. Get done driving. Just wanna sleep.
15 months now with great job. Coast to coast, dedicated hazmat run. 48 hours off one week. 3 1/2 days the other. Have a bad back injury from twisting. Found golf swing does much for it after ten years. Been doing a little short hard workout. 15 months ago I could only do it once a week. Then had to rest. Now doing it 6 days a week, one day off. Have circulation problems. Can't walk very far. Keep pushing back. Getting better. Living in the truck is not good. Toward the end, I'd wake up in the morning. Think; this is one of those monday mornings when you have a heart attack and die.

When I first started otr I lived in the truck for the first year and a half using a relative's address before buying a house

7 years later I am now putting the house up for sale and planning to end my truck driving career the way it started. The rising costs of home ownership and the minimal amount of time I spend there are the main reasons it makes no sense keeping it.

I have another house overseas where I plan to retire, but for now in the USA, I will be a truck dweller.
