Willson Lg., Prime and CFI told me on the phone that they do hire out of FL. I subbmited applications with them. Only WL recruiter started chasing me as a car salesman, but as soon as I pointed about my last 5 years, he went cold turkey on me and told me about that supposed 3 year rule of not using my CDL.

CRST and Stevens Transport both hire Florida drivers.
Still, a Tech or Vocational or Community College school is the best deal.

Get your CDL on your own if you can.

To get hired these days, the company will probably ask for your past 5-10 years of work and driving/criminal history.

I lived and worked outside the U.S. too. No offense, but most 'Mericans are clueless about how or why someone would or could do this. About all you'll hear is, why i know that country like the back of my hand, Ive been there on 2 cruises. :) (fer two 4 hour visits, right....)

I brought 3 reference/good character letters from people I knew or worked with. I brought a local and state police report of my good conduct and driving record while living there, and my residency permit. All were put in my "file", and helped the H.R. person cover their derriere and to be able to check off all their magic boxes so they could hire me.

    NikSolanke and Chinatown Thank this.

I would ignore your class B and enroll/apply as a new driver. From what we are seeing from new drivers out here, a pulse is all you need to get hired on to a mega. Get the CDL on your own if financially possible. The reason for this is you won't be beholden to any company. If they suck, or you get a better offer, you can leave. If you still owe them for a truck school, you'll be in a bad spot.

If, however, you must sign on with a mega, understand they will expect a certain amount of time in return for your training. It isn't a bad way to go to learn the industry and what you like to haul. You'll most likely start out as a door-swinger, but with any luck you might graduate...
