Fair idea. For anyo E but me, I would agree. I recently bought an international farm tractor, with no
need, other than to drive it down the street.like Avery loud golf cart!

So, you're saying that the load boards are for the benefit of the broker, not the drivers? Interesting.

When brokers seem to be putting your best interests ahead of their own, be very careful. It's called foreplay.

It is so hard on self esteem to realize that working off load boards means eating left overs. It makes a man feel he's a raccoon. Implication being that loadboards are garbage containers.

However, for dry vans, the leftovers are abundant enough to make a living.
For more specialized freight, it may not be enough. All reefer owners that I know use at least one broker contact on direct basis, they use loadboards ad hoc.

I like raccoons. My neighbor feeds them by hand... very fool hardy, indeed! What do I know... just what I read, hear and view. I have truckers edge pro, so I am following it. It's my first investment in trucking, education, a subscription to the dAT.

Actually, I have watched one guy, Makecents on youtube, which is why I got DAT truckers edge pro. He does a weekly rundown of the board for Flat beds, Vans and reefers, showing how to place your truck. Pretty informative for me, actually. Now I got the idea, but wonder if it plays out how it appears, negotiating as I will and parking the truck when loads are seasonally crappy. It looks like a lot of money to be made, but one has to pick up some crummy ones to get to the lanes with lots of outgoing, compared to incoming.

I think I'll put a few hundred a month into google adwords pointed toward my new, yet to built, Freight carrying website. I'd like to pick up a few light 20k loads paying as much as the heavy ones, right out of my business park. Good idea! You helped me think of that.
