Loads over 1000mi the rate drops doesnt matter how hot the lane is.
300 to 500 mi loads pay 1000. 600 to 900 2mile. I do i fsy runs less than 500mi anything over 500 you gotta run hard for next day deliver for the same money if you take your time on a 400mi load plus you save fuel. I run on revenue per day avg. I break even at 325.00 per day. Ill do short runs so my revenue to fuel ratio is high. In other words 100mi for 500 i do it . it also conserves my hrs. Last week i did 1377mi for 4300 in revenue on $ 365.00 in fuel.
My truck is 3yrs old only have 231k miles on it.

Florida has great paying lanes if you know the right people. If not then the lane is junk. All brokers have preferred carriers and OO that get the low hanging fruit that never ends up on the boards unless capacity is really low

Sounds like a solid week but my calculator puts your truck at about 11 mpg. How?

that is a strategy that I honestly wouldn't have considered. I see that is a smart strategy. The low mileage is impressive. So you gross perhaps 65 or 70% of what you would with longer mileage, but reduce your maintenance and fuel by at least 50%. I call that a winner. Thanks for sharing your method. I imagine you also stay closer to home and have a lot more home time running short runs?

Fuel left over from previous week . My fuel bill was lower because of it. I usually complete my week at 1/2 tank of fuel. When markets are low i gotta control cost because high revs hard to get . I cant control truck payment . But i can control fuel by getting my revenue to fuel ratio up. Lowering my expense for that revenue. So 4500 now becomes 6000.

Fuel left over from a previous week, should really go to that previous week as a reduced fuel expense. On the other hand, so long as the trailing excess fuel is there each week and it's consistent, it will work out. The only problem I see is that by emphasizing a week that includes left over fuel from the previous week in an example, is that it begs the question... Is that a normal week or off by a 1/2 tank of fuel?

So you are running basically two 100 mile loads per day, or some longer loads however the week works out.

Do you have any problem with booking two per day? Have you had situations where that 100-mile load tied you up all day and you missed the second one?

Aside from guys liking to take long loads so they can travel for hours and hours, the problem with the short loads is that if they tie you up it seems like for a small amount of money you're tied up all day.

Wondering what your thoughts are about that and how you go about that.

No i dont get tied up . I know who gets you in and out resonably and that determines if i take the load. I run regional so i know shippers recievers pretty well. If its a bad shipper or reciever ill take it if i need to regain hrs or im gonna do a reset. But even then thats rare . I cant afford to sit for a day when im pulling shorties. My shorty this week so far is 182mi 13 deadhead for 1000.00. Rates always hit rock bottom 1st week after 4th. So you gotta have a strategy that works stick with it or fail chasing $$$ that isnt there. I got list of brokers that are 24/7 also a list of daily runs for certain lanes in case i get stuck i can push a reset button so to speak. 2 loads a day never works out for me. Ill do a straight thru as long as i can show a break be avail. At decent time. Multi stops dont like them either 1 customer holds you up could cost you a day. Happens alot . So im strictly 1and1s
