Got assigned a load tomorrow, that I can;t figure out how to do this legally, not many people in the office over the weekend to talk to. Going to try to call in and complain tomorrow morning, but not sure whats going to happen.
The demands: pickup load at 12:00pm mountain time, drive 6-7 hours and make first stop at 7pm pacific, then make 2nd stop at 3:AM pacific time 40 miles from stop 1.
I've been to both receivers before (2 distribution centers for the same company), there is no parking on-site. Can only arrive 15 minutes early, and get kicked off property the minute your done regardless of hours.
I wont be able to do any kind of 8 hour sleeper birth at the first stop due to strict policies, and I will be forced to arrive at the 2nd stop 2 hours after 14 hour clock is up. Then after finished unloading at the 2nd stop I'll be kicked off the property with no time on my clock in the middle of the los angeles metro area.
Load that can't be done legally

Tell them you can't do it legally...
If they ask why, ask them to show you a viable trip plan that wouldn't have you in violation. Just say you can make it to stop 2 by 0700, and ask them to reschedule.RedRover, SingingWolf and tscottme Thank this. -
Don't complain. Just tell them what you CAN do.
-
If you cant do it legally, then you just cant. Tell them asap, and when they argue, explain that its your career on the line. Appointments, no matter how serious they are can always be rescheduled.
-
The problem, is that there are guys who will break the rules and then not waste a day. Which is why these loads with bad appointments are given out.RustyChops41 and KB3MMX Thank this. -

This is exactly why shippers, receivers and Brokers all need to be held legally liable for this sort of nonsense.A_C_Cooper, G13Tomcat, Ooops and 5 others Thank this. -
I had a similar situation. Driving 1200 miles from tallmadge Ohio to Houston Texas 1548 miles total with only 24 hours on the clock. It couldn't legally be done. Told them this and they didn't have an issue. Yeah I gotta sit for a full day. But it'll be there Tuesday morning
