Sorry need to vent. I was hauling my usual 107k load of asphalt on a 4 lane hwy today. Traffic was heavy but moving at the speed limit. I was cruising in the second lane there was no where to go because the 4wheelers were spaced perfectly blocking the first two lanes.

Well this Volvo from a certain mega carrier pulling a dry van passes me on the right and then realizes there is no where to go. So he stuffs me and now I'm way to close to him or her. I know this truck was mt or very light because we were climbing a pretty good grade at the time.

So screw this I waited for the 3 lane to open up , and off I went. I had plenty of power left and I was going with the flow of traffic. There is a 3rd and 4th lane restriction on this road . That's why I was stuck in the second lane .

To the new drivers if you see a 6 axle truck or more and it's going with the flow of traffic give us a break. You know the kind of load I'm talking about. And I was not holding up traffic, I don't have a governor ( it's set at 99mph) no e logs etc. I can go as fast as I want at any time. So maximize your driving time around someone else . Tks

True enough. Nothing like a six-week wonder cutting you off on a hill and you're grossing twice what they are.

grossing 106,000 , if your truck was so fast why was he able to pass you on the left. come on ! you are one of those guys who on a 4 lane with the 2 left lanes restricted to trucks will ride that 3rd lane and never move. at 106,000 you should have been in the right lane anyway up a grade.

and if a mega carrier passed you on the right, your truck aint that fast.

you know since you have so much power you could have just backed out just a little.

Loaded truck has the right of way? In the quarries and coal mines I used to run in when I drove a bucket, yes, that was the "unwritten" procedure and the common courtesy among the haulers. Somehow I missed the memo though that it also pertains to public roads and highways...

I always thought Loaded heavy trucks needed to be in the right lane so the big motor boys can blow your doors off. Smh heavy trucks have the right of way. I think he got his feelings hurt a swift blew his doors off. I guess people are suppose to just wait till you get that slow truck out of the middle lane and we shouldn't go by you on the right. LOL making up rules as you go. Well I ain't never!! Well yesterday doesn't count :)

It's useless to try to explain anything to most freight haulers, they think everyone has a nice light load and a gutless detroit!!

Please tell the cops 'loaded trucks have the right of way' when you get into your next accident.

I run for a stupid megacarrier, and the truck is governed well under the speed limit on most interstates. I've also been driving over 25 years, and yes, I have driven 90 mph trucks, and done heavy haul.
I typically run with my cruise control on, when possible and safe. I notice a lot of trucks don't, and it's not uncommon for me to have to pass large cars, running much slower than I am and the speed limit, multiple times, and not just due to hills or loads.
I don't know if they are on the phone, picking boogers, or doing what, but if you find a governed company truck annoying you in your large car, you have the tools to correct it. Put your foot down, maintain a reasonable safe speed....and when possible, give as much respect to the other driver as you are demanding for yourself.

slowlane, Dinomite, allniter and 4 others Thank this.
