How much time do you spend at the loading docks waiting for paperwork / loading / unloading?
I'm a new driver and I was wondering how much time is lost during this process.

Ive had a 15 min unload....and ive had a 9 hour unload... it allllllll depends where you are and what your hauling.... reefer typically have the longer unload times..... definitely at Walmart

Wait times a union places are much longer than non-union places. Might wait 24 hours at union steel mills.Lepton1, baha and BigTennOTR Thank this. -
To illustrate the point of "you never know"....I drive a dedicated lane every day. Same shipper, same receiver, same load, same appointment time, usually even the same dock doors. Load time has varied from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Unload time has varied from 90 minutes to 5 hours.
RET423 and QuietStorm Thank this. -
I've had twelve hour loads and a few times in/out in twenty minutes for a truckload shipment.
