Not sure if it's just me lucky or most of the guys : every time I get coil , beams , rods , sheets etc it takes 2-3 hours at both loading and drop off locations ...just hate to waste so much time
Showed up today at Niagara LaSalle in hammond in at 10:15 with only one truck in front of me ...got out 1:45pm ...ohh they got 1hr of their lunch of course :(

Its hit or miss like anything else with trucking. I haven't been to Niagara LaSalle in Hammond in several months as every load I've tried to get from them gets underbid, lots of competition in the greater Chicago which is an area Im starting to avoid.. The key with Niagara is to get there the night before and park overnight that way your first in the morning... That's what I would always do. Then I'm in and out.

I did a load of coils out of Indiana Wednesday going to west Virginia and at both locations was in and out.... lots of variables go into it.

Precision Strip in Kenton Ohio you could set 4 hours or more and be first inline. As there green company trucks go around you.

    Not unusual for steel
I hauled steel out of Toronto always preloaded. My loads were usually a mixed load which would take time as well. That and the fact either a 5 axle trailer or b-trains so quite a few pieces. Never something straightforward like a few lifts of plate
Hourly paid P&D drivers always loaded and tarped them and yes they often spent many hours loading.
    Pack a lunch or 3:D

Steel will suck the life out of you fast. Get used to waiting an eternity and being treated like scum. I won't ever do it again.

Welcome to Union shops. It's not about doing a good job, it's about how useless you can be and still keep your job.

I used to haul ALOT of steel outta AK middle town.

I'm pretty sure all the scalehouse and office staff are the spawn of satan himself. They were bred to hate steel haulers.

    That place sucks
