What kind of loan terms can I expect to get on a 10 yr old Kenworth truck? Down payment is not an issue and I have excellent credit. It is best to deal with a local bank / credit union or a national specialized finance company of some sort?
Loan terms?

With excellent credit, go to a bank, and try. Most banks will not touch a truck loan, unless you have an established relationship with them. A 10 year old truck might make you go with a financing company, and there is nothing wrong with that.Dealers can put in touch with lenders. Good luck.

It may be diffcult to finance an older truck. I agree that your local bank or credit union would be your best source for financing. You will likely find better terms from a lender who is familiar with you. Many banks don't finance class 8 trucks, but some will make a business loan which you can use for the same purpose. If your local bank won't make a loan to you for a truck, there are a number of lenders that specialize in class 8 equipment.

It's hard as hell to get financing for a first time buyer (I'm assuming you are) but i had a credit score of 720 and put down 10K on a 2006 W900 KW for a rate of 8.5%.... Truck was 39,000, payments are 1100 for 30 months, for a first time buyer and a good truck i think I got a good #### deal

Did you put that truck on with VW?

Naw, I leased onto a flatbed carrier.... VW would only let me lease on an 08 or newer sadly

Given that you have good credit I would talk to a credit union. As jbatmick stated banks will typically do trucks only for their established customers. We are a financing company that works with people with bad credit so we are probably not a fit but I do speak to people that are getting financing through credit unions even on a ten year old truck.
