Also gave the local beer job a shot didn't particularly like hauling keg(s) down the rickety wooden stairs to the coolers in the basement! Just finish one then drive a block and do it again. Some customers like you , some don't and you have to treat them as if they do. Oh and keep an eye on your truck, the uniformslike to give out parking tickets like there skittles. My 2 pennies, good luck with your decision. Maybe they have shuttle runs you could get into, much easier on body.

I worked in the beverage industry for over a year. I wouldn't even consider doing it for 600/week. The amount of physical work + long hours will wear you down fast.

But like other drivers have said, being home every night is priceless. Just be sure you can survive comfortably on what they are paying.

Beverage trucks are for young people and keep you in shape. They are a fun job and a normal work schedule. You get to know the store employees and other vendors. Budweiser and Pepsi are the better ones.

I worked for Coke for about a year. My friend that hired in about the same time stayed with it. After 8 years of driving they promoted him into management and he's making the big bucks. It's one driving job that is not a dead end job. But you have to start young to work your way up. An older person would wear out before they got there. :)

I just started at a beverage company, and other than having a #####-storm of problems with the truck I like it. More physical than OTR, which is exactly what I wanted. Pay is decent and loads of overtime will have me making right around $1000-$1100 per week. There is definitely more to it than I originally thought, particularly in the form of inventory management--but nothing I can't handle. I do enjoy being home every night, that's for sure.

It's heavy work. Guy from work used to work at Coca Cola, he painted quite a harsh reality. Very demanding work for the money you get. Same word came from a couple of former GFS and Sysco drivers who were making pretty good money doing foodservice but now with shoulder and knee surgeries.... you get the picture. It all depends on what you are willing to do and how much work your body and mind can take.

With that being said I wouldn't consider any type of offer from Pumpkin, ever, period.

Since I have had my own route which has been for about 3 weeks now. I haven't worked more than 48 hours in a week.
