I'd like to buy my own tractor one day to haul fuel locally. Is it worth the money ? I always hear or read owner ops never make #### because of all the expenses but never hear anything bad when I talk to guys delivering gas at gas stations. Some told me theyre grossing 5k/week depends how hard you want to work. Is this true?

Short answer is probably no... Right now in this economy I'd say maybe 3500 a week ( tractor only). The rates are not what they used to be. Most of the majors have dumped their trucks. And the regional bulk haulers are in a downward biding war to get the work.

It's true it comes down to how hard you want to work. Remember hauling gas weekends and all holidays are a must. Especially if your a o/o .

And one cross drop could cost 10s of thousands .

If you've never done this kind of work before I'd suggest getting a company position first to see if you like it.

If you can make the #s work on $3500 you might make it. Good luck!
