ive heard that working another part-time job affects your on-duty hrs of service. is there any loop hole around this DOT rule? theres a parttime opening near my trucking yard as a security guard and it seems like a good way to add on to my driver pay.

Nope. And it is technically any compensated time has to be shown as on duty. You know those picnic tables you build on the weekends because you like woodworking? Well if you sell them that's on duty time. Of course I think it's a bit silly, but no one ever accused the government of making sense.
