I received my class A license through a mega carrier in December and am currently about to finish my 30k miles as a team. I love the driving but I can’t stand being away from home for such long periods of time. I thought I’d be okay with it when I started, but the depression/anxiety have been slowly building since then.

My question is this: Are there any local or even regional companies that will hire me with little experience? Preferably in NorCal, but I’d be willing to settle for something in SoCal as well.

Check the transportation section on Craigslist, there should be a good amount of local postings. Im in so-cal and see a whole mess of them but i get no love because ive got no experience. You should find something in no time! Good luck!

Are you in the Central Valley? My buddy started with a CVT gravel hauler, then went to Gallo wines hauling tanker. Now he's settle down with Savemart. Also if you don't mind unloading foodservice will hire fresh drivers. My buddy before he got Smart got on with Budweiser Modesto. It's hard job but great schedule and laid back. They hire no exp. Your pay isn't gonna be great til you get some experience. DOT foods is in Modesto I believe they hire noobs and train. They do otr but gone for 5 days home 2 days. Pay extremely well and nobody complains about them.

Gardner in Chino will hire you. They have satellite yards in central and Northern California. Very clean equipment. Pay varies.
