Local Routes in SLC, UT?

Hey,
I’m a fairly new driver. Got my CDL a few months ago, no restrictions, and no endorsements (yet). Currently working for Schneider on a regional dedicated route and while it’s nice having my own truck, it’s nicer being home with my family every night.

I’m 32 years old. Military Veteran. If that matters any. I’ve applied for Saia to run local and haven’t heard anything yet. JB Hunt has a nice local route they run with Ross and I don’t mind some labor M-F occasional Saturdays and hourly pay.

Mainly looking for hourly. Local, home every night. Seeing what others are paying really made me realize things about my choice in companies. On top of that Mortgage lenders don’t look too kindly on mileage paid drivers.

If Saia is what I think they are -- you'll need AT LEAST 12 months experience to have any real shot of getting on with them.

The other LTL carriers are the same.

Do like I did -- stick with your first carrier for a year -- or more.

Unless it's just totally unavoidable -- job changes in your first year generally don't make you look good to later CDL employers.
