I’m a fairly new driver. Got my CDL a few months ago, no restrictions, and no endorsements (yet). Currently working for Schneider on a regional dedicated route and while it’s nice having my own truck, it’s nicer being home with my family every night.

I’m 32 years old. Military Veteran. If that matters any. I’ve applied for Saia to run local and haven’t heard anything yet. JB Hunt has a nice local route they run with Ross and I don’t mind some labor M-F occasional Saturdays and hourly pay.

Mainly looking for hourly. Local, home every night. Seeing what others are paying really made me realize things about my choice in companies. On top of that Mortgage lenders don’t look too kindly on mileage paid drivers.

I appreciate any help!

Don't buy a house just before the housing market implodes. This housing crash is far worse than 2008 and mortgage rates at highest in 20+ years. Rent & save cash for a downpayment on a house after the prices fall 30% and when interest rates are 5% or less.

Yeah my wife and I are continuing to rent and saving up for a down payment and watching the market as well

I plan on it. I did the class time for it. I just didn’t have spare funds to go get my background check but it’s definitely on the list of things to do haha

Yes, mention you're a military veteran. Many companies have benefits for veterans and also cut some slack on hiring criteria for veterans.

What about the no-downpayment for military veterans?

The other LTL carriers are the same.

XPO hired me wkth no experience. But they, and other LTL, will want doubles-triples, hazmat and tanker if not to start then within 90 days.
