Im local tanker here with your exp. You should be able to get trained, I got my start with Quality Carriers and had no complaints on the training or pay, theres a terminal in Lansing, Il. And theres 2 in Joliet.
Also try Trimac also in Lansing.
Highway tran. In joliet.
All have local or short out and back regional.

 

Don't know if you want to go in this direction but Bulkmatic may be a place you can look into. It's dry bulk, not tanker. Home pretty much every night and good medical coverage at a decent rate (I do not know cost for family coverage, I am single).

They will train you and you can make decent money but it can be long days.

The mother ship is in Griffith, Indiana with a transloading yard in Hodgkins, IL and a lot of loads that get pulled out of Argo, IL from the Hodgkins location
