Yes, legally you need to log it but as long as you take Sunday off to reset you will be fine
not that I’d be admitting to tax fraud and hos violations on a public forum….

Because the regulations we work under specifically state all compensated time for a non-motor carrier is to be logged as on-duty.brian991219, tarmadilo, MACK E-6 and 4 others Thank this.

You’ll be fine, it’s a side gig for some extra Money. It’s not like your workings 70 hours week driving and you have this part time thing going. Even if the “Nazi” popo was to follow you around, 40 hours at your present job and 15 hours a week on your side gig does not add up to your total hours “On duty” for the week. I would keep it under my hat though, you can see by the replies, you’ll get a different answer every time.Lav-25, Rideandrepair and michaelj123xx Thank this.

If you’re working under the table I wouldn’t worry about it. But If you get hurt while working under the table the guys you’re working for won’t be worried about workers comp. Just a thought.
wis bang and michaelj123xx Thank this. -
Which is a gross overreach, IMO. Work performed for an entity not regulated by the FMCSA should not be subject to FMCSR.michaelj123xx Thanks this.

So it would be difficult to work two trucking jobs. I don't think I realized you had to account for your time when not at work.
michaelj123xx Thanks this. -
HOS regulation require you log any time spent working for compensation. It doesn't matter what type of job or if the job involves any driving. You can be a cashier, porn star, astronaut, govt sniper. ANY JOB counts against your HOS.Just passing by and michaelj123xx Thank this.

ANY JOB for compensation is required by the HOS regs to be logged whether that job is driving or not. ANY JOB.michaelj123xx Thanks this.

The FMCSA decides what the FMCSA believes and they seldom even ask for the opnion of us drivers. It's a regulation, it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but the people that decide.michaelj123xx Thanks this.

He will get away with it until he is involved in some accident and then EVERYTHING he has ever done may be discovered and anything shady could tend to make the settlement against him even more expensive. All it takes to be involved in an accident is some car running into him while he is stopped at a traffic light or stop sign.brian991219, Just passing by and michaelj123xx Thank this.
