Does anyone know where the location of the solenoid for the cooling fan on a 2005 vnm 200 with a volvo d12 engine? Your help would be appreciated

I think code is saying solenoid, but that is just fan clutch gone bad, not sure, but my 2 cents..good luck!

Follow the air line from fan to SOL. will have 2 ele. wires, 2 air lines.

It's located on the front of the engine on the fan drive on the electronic version. There are vanes inside the fan drive which the fan speed sensor/solenoid reads (Hall Effect like a crank sensor) It sends a signal to the ECM and engages the fan accordingly for optimal cooling speed. Ditto on baha description.
It's a high tech version of a fan clutch in a way but an added accessory. Most D12s have them.Dickeyroberts Thanks this. -

Actually the motor is a ve12d. Is that the same as a d12? Sorry guys, the first volvo I've ever owned. Don't know anything about them.

did you replace the solenoid? did that fix the problem?
I have the same truck and fan is not turning on like it should
