The wiper thing. I guess you're conditioned that as soon as something goes wrong to call in for instructions. The thing is, sometimes you have to use your head first. Staying on the shoulder for hours is not something you do if you can at all avoid it.
Next time something like this happens try to figure a way to get to a safer spot on your own. I guess I can understand why you contacted the company and then did what they told you to but left to your own I'm pretty sure you would have grabbed the passenger side wiper and got to a safer place and then contacted the company.
Locked out truck. Broke window. Charged with accident. Hurts in long run?

As others have suggested hiding a key somewhere outside the truck is a great way to prevent this... I got in the habit working at my first company which already provided one hid for us. Saved my rear numerous times cause I'm the worlds worst about jumping and hitting the lock button on the way then remembering I didn't grab me keys lol. -
