yeah, that disparity between log and local time has come close to burning me a couple times (did, once, but not badly - I'd just gotten my DM trained to understand that all times I used in communications were Denver times. Then I had a new DM and she wasn't aware of that 'rule'. Made for a tired day, but it was still legal)
Me, I think the entire country (if not the entire world) should use the same time zone. So what if you have to get up with the sun at 19:00?

You make the log entry explaining why. It's really no big deal. Also a tip I used was I bought a cheap battery timex watch and kept that on home time. It was used only for logs and I kept it on the dash.

I log the time change, in the spring I change the clocks and show the time change from 02:00 to 03:00, skipping the hour from 02:00 to 03:00, showing a total of 23 hours for the day.
In the fall I show the time change by drawing a line to 02:00 and then moving up slightly to show the line starting again at 01:00, showing a total of 25 hours for the day. I draw a line from the bottom of the graph to a notation that I changed the clocks for standard time or daylight saving time.
This became an issue with the logcop at the company I was working for, she called the DOT and was told, "That sounds good to us!"
Any time you have to keep a log, whether driving, communications, medical, or anything where time is recorded accurately, you should show the time change.
The regulations state you have to use the time standard at your home terminal for your log book. Everything else is local time, like appointments, I went through this with dispatch over times in and out at the customer.punkinhed Thanks this. -
