You have 11 hours to drive in a day WITHIN 14 hour period.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- You have 14 hours to work in a day (off duty/sleeper berth/driving/on duty must total upto 14 hours)
- You have 11 hours to drive within a 14 hour period.
- You must take a 30 MINUTE Break within 8 HOURS of the moment you start your work period.
** NOT 8 HOURS of driving, 8 HOURS from the moment you started your work day. -
there must be more questions
that is rule number 1 -
You can drive a maximum of 11 hours in a 14 hour period, assuming you have that amount of time left in your work week (70 hours/8 days). It is possible to exceed 11 hours driving in a day/24 hour period in the U.S.
-
No, you have a 14 hour driving window. You can work past the 14th hour (on duty), you just can't drive.
-
You still have 14 hour window, but only 11 of that can be driving and/or on duty.
Daddydame Thanks this. -
I would take that as 11 hrs toal lines 3 and 4.

If I said i only had 11 hours available for the day, I would mean on my 70.
But never tell me I can only drive 11 hours in a standard day. I can drive 11 hours max in a shift. But if I happen to have my 10 hour break done and want to drive more, I can.
If you look at real running days, if I happen to be driving at midnight. Run till 3 am. take a 10, then drive 11 hours, I have 13 hours driving at that point.
Even If I log a 15 min pre-trip, 15 min post trip, 15 min fuel at some point in the day, and 30 min break at 8 hours. That is 1 hour 15 min on duty time. I can drive the rest as long as I don't go over my 70, 14 or 11. And remember to take my break at some point after 6 hours on duty but before 8 hours on.
That my friend is what I call making the maximum use of time on running days. Sure, you will have pickup and delivery days where you will loose some time. But you want to make maximum use anytime you can. I am not one of those idiots that try to run no more than 9 hours a day, so they always stay in their 70. That is about stupid, and you are giving away money. -
I bet the OP thought it was a simple question.

I do line haul point a to point b...total available hours for tomorrow is 11, to clarify the question. I only have 11 hrs available total driving and on duty, now do I still have that 14 hour window to accomplish this, ex 6am start time 14 up at 8pm or would I have to stop my log at 5pm
