Log book question

Hello, I am going to post a second question here because I posted my first a week or so ago and you were all so helpful! My husband just returned from his first OTR job after driving local for 12 years and he asked me to come to all of you and ask a question that he is confused about regarding keeping his log book. On the log book, he does 7 days and then when he begins to log the 8th day, how do you work that into the hours. His understanding is that you log 7 days and then you count up 8 days but he is confused how to log/calculate his hours after the 7th day.
I hope this makes sense to all of you the way I have written it...

Yes, her said that is what he is referring to...he said it had been since 89 since he had even dealt with a log book so he can't remember.

Thank you for the replies...the computer program that was recommended was very helpful and does seem to work correctly. It also helped us visualize the pattern that is used in the columns and how to count back properly which is really what we needed to understand...again, thanks so much!
