    Hi Everyone,
I am back after being gone since April when my husband first became a trucker again and just wanted to find out if anyone knows about the new log book regulations that are taking place in sept. I heard that they were going to change back to the old rule and we don't know what the old rule was, and need info. on how it works.

    Thanks

I am attending MTC right now as a truck driving student, and my instructor was talking about this the other day, although he only touched on it briefly. From what I've gathered, if your carrier is running on a 8 day week, after 70 hours, you must take 36 consecutive hours off, and if your carrier is on a 7 day schedule, the driver can drive 60 hours, then must take that time off (36 hrs.) and there are no restarts, whereas under the current rule there are, allowing you to basically be able to drive more. This will apparently instill much grief and anger in the trucking community, which is exactly why they are fighting tooth and nail NOT to have the old rule reinstated. I believe the date is the 14th of Sept., so I guess we will see.

Note: I realize I was very vague with this, I'm sorry. I'm sure an actual trucker will elaborate. :biggrin_25520:

I would suggest going to the Trucking Industry Regulations section and looking at the threads discussing Hours of Service. There have been several already.

Hi, Delle... and welcome to the forum.

Regarding the change in regulations, there are two existing threads addressing this. You might want to check them out. Also, I'm sure some of the drivers here will chime in, also. :yes2557:

most I have heard so far .. it's been mostly rumors... be nice if someone from the DOT would make this more official , unless they are trying to trip up the trucking community to show how much better the mexicans are....but I am not one for such conspiracy theories lol:biggrin_25520:

Ghee Thanks for all the info. everyone. Although for what its worth I think for the people out there driving this info. is not getting communicated by the Co's or the DOT properly, here we are 1 month from the start of these rules and some still consider it to be a rumor, and some don't even know about it at all. Anyway that is my 2 cents.

Hate to burst your bubble but its less than 12 days. We probably won't hear anything until 9-12-07. That is the date the court has given FMCSA to respond by.

I'm pretty sure the date the court will decide is on the 14th, not the 12th. Let's all hope that it gets overruled! I know ALOT of heavy hitters in the truck industry are fighting this.
