log book tin

Get a hard plastic clipboard with attached calculator at Wal Mart for about $10. The clipboard opens up to hold your logs.

 

most truck stops have the metal clipboards, not sure about online stuff, should be a website for supertruckers though, yes?

 

Staples has them as well. That is where I bought my metal log book organizer last year for about $30.00.

Are you just talking about a metal document holder? Haven't actually seen a metal log book holder.
I got a document holder from Gall's, many years ago. That's what I use to hold my log book, extra pens, some maps, a calculator, and other unidentified junk. Has two interior compartments.
I know I've seen them at a local office supply store.

 

I could have sworn they called it a document holder! Either I was mistaken, or they changed the product description. Probably me.
Anyway, looks like they call it a storage clipboard. This is what I use. As I am driving, my logbook goes under the clip. When I'm not driving, it goes inside.

 

Yeh but.... Texas DOT doesn't like these. They find them too difficult to open LMAO

Hey, im glad this was brought up, i have a question about this, well maybe 2 questions.
my company has log books, with our company name on it, can i take the staples out of them and make it a loose leaf log??? is that ok, and store them in the above " document/"log", " holder?? mean-time, i am still using my logbook still stapled together but i am running 2 months in the same book, aug-sept.... is this ok? or is this a bad idea??
the reasson that happend is because i had ripped out a few pages in my aug logbook to " fix " some problems on some certain days.
what should i do??? im worried about logging 2 months in the same book, and i run upstate NY, and if anyone here is familiar with up-state you no how the D.O.T is always open everywhere. soo any advise would be great.
ahh.... ill guess ill break it down. i run sun-friday, i leave out on sunday night, usually really late, like 12-2am monday morning, and i have deliveris that i need to make on monday morning, now, if i did this the " legal " way there is no way that i could take my 10hr restart after driving for 6 hours. so what i do is ill drive till like 4-5 hours sun night - monday morning, sleep for like 3-4 hours and start usually around 8-10 am. but i log my real time driving the night before just incase something happens along the way, cause you never no. " soo monday before i start ill rip the previous page out and log that i had left early sunday afternoon so i could start early on monday..... im sorry if i am confusing anyone here, but i got so used to doing this, and then before i realized it i ran out of pages in my aug log book. and i were D.O.T, i would have reasson to bileave that this driver was doing something wrong.....

One month per book. I don't know if there is a written rule, or it's just a rule of etiquette. Using loose leaf negates the need for that. It also prevents you from making an accidental mistake, that could cost you money.

Your company log book. Many people take the staples out. If you use the large kind. Simply place it on a holder as pictured above (in this thread) rip that days page out when done. Place it inside. It also makes corrections easier.

Some officers are d###heads, and want to pump you as to why your log book is short a few pages. Loose leaf cuts that off at the roots. There are no rules as to how many pages are required...but still.

Running a loose leaf, forces an officer to go to your company for any additional information past the 8th day. If you remove and store the pages at home, as they drop off the week. I always get a chuckle when I'm asked for anything past the 8th - 12th day. I may have them, I may not. It depends on whether I went home during that time.

As for the remainder of your post. It's very common practice. Not legal...but very common.
