Thread Revival Dredge:
If I live 100 miles from the load pickup location can I take the 100 mile radius for going to the dock and back to my yard?
Example:
Pickup on Thursday or Friday, 100 mile exemption. Use a log book for OTR on Saturday or Sunday to make a delivery on Monday or Tuesday.
Log book vs. 100 mile radius rule

I beleive the 100 miles is from your office and i thinj you return every night.

Must start & stop at the same location within a 12 hour period in order to claim the exception. If you leave the house, make the pickup, and return to the house, never leaving the 100 air-mile radius, then yes, you would qualify. If you leave the house, make the pickup, and return to the company yard on the other side of town, you would not.

I used a nautical mile radius map and entered my yard location (home address) and the pickup location, 94.536 nautical mile radius. I am in business for my future plan, trying to get things going with minimal debt and supplementing my early retirement a little.

You can forget early retirement. IRS won't allow that.

It may confuse the officer to find a driver of a sleeper truck claiming the local exemption, but thankfully the ones I encounter are well versed in LTL guys doing this.

In NY, we run sleeper car haulers but two of our trucks stay local most days and do not run log books, occasionally they run just far enough out to need a book, the officers have a hard time grasping that a sleeper truck would be used local for any reason. I have a sleeper on my truck, do run out enough to log daily, but rarely ever sleep away and get questioned about it all the time. I tell them I like the sleeper to change in when I get wet or dirty, seems to shut them up LOL!speedyk Thanks this.
