You're supposed to write the location of each and every change of duty status.
cetanediesel Thanks this. -
I'm on ELOGS. So, the computer automatically denotes my location.

Yes, for every change of duty.
If you take a 10 hour break at a rest area, I put the mile marker/rest area/highway name down.Giggles the Original and cetanediesel Thank this. -
Every time you go "vertical" on your book you must flag it city and state driver, ANY change of status at the time you change status
cetanediesel Thanks this. -
For the rest area, if the town isn't listed, I use the town nearest the rest area, even though it may not have an exit, it is to place you at a location, and it would be close enough.in my experience. The driving at midnight thing is where I use mile markers and roads and states, but you are still supposed to name the nearest town as well.

I agree with you but I don't agree with your wording as it is incorrect in my opinion
You must flag city and state every time you go "vertical" off of line 3.
I do understand different people log different ways and for the most part they are all legal. But, for instance if you go from line 3 to line 4 then in 15 minutes go to line 1 or 2 you don't need to flag the vertical line going to line 1 or 2 (after a Post-trip for example). You also don't need to flag when you go from line 1, 2, or 4 to line 3 as your previous flag leaving line 3 covers it.
But of course you knew that and most drivers will know what you are talking about

i just put rest area and mm. along with state. it's not hard to figure out which way you went from town to town.
