You can drive to get something to eat on your 10 hour break, however it's very wise to get to a place where you can take your full 10 hour break and eat and be happy. Most companies should give you # least 5 miles to move the truck. It's a known fact many drivers do move their trucks # truck stops do to their next door neighboor and that should be fine. Not really clear on what happened on this thread!
I will warn you where I work, many driver will take a 9 hour break instead of 10 hour break and 2 hours later their fleet manager will be telling them they did not shut down for a full 10 hour break. Now who loses? The driver and in some cases the Fleet manager, but for their sake staying out of jail is more important to them (if they are a good fleet manager) and keeping you out of jail is even 'MORE" important.
All I can say is split break properly & take full 10 hour breaks (when not split breaking) and make sure you take a full 34-36 hour break.
Many drivers shorten their 10/34 by 15 minutes or up to 60 minutes (1 hour). So be carefull and count over 10/34 hours from the time you enter lines 1 or 2!
The 10 hour break can be a combination of line 1 & line 2.
Log Violation - drove too soon or not?

Plant it for 10 hours.
I made a LogsRus with a backwards R on your profile picture. If you'd like I could post it in an album for you, or pm it.
It reminded me of the ToysRus & I thought you'd like it with the R backwards. -
Sorry my mistake......I did not realise that his company uses the QC as well as his paperlogs to check up on him. I dont really like that idea myself but I have not run with a company with QC for the past 3 yrs (lucky me
) just the plain old paperlogs.
We are going to be starting with a new company in a couple of weeks who have QC, I hope they do not do the same thing. Dont get me wrong, we always run safe and legally so we should not have any problems....
I just wonder what is happening to the trucking industry when companies dont trust their drivers to do the right thing...sad really -
That's alright I wasn't even putting two & two together, QC/Paperlesslogs
duh! (i'm still a newbie) good excuse!
I just had it in my head it was for communication. That is bad, using both, for the most part. I guess with experience they've learned that some people they just can't trust, so everyone has to suffer??
back to work!
