The willful misreading of the regs won't sit well with a lot of the better DOT guys. They know the regs better than most drivers, and understand how the game is played. And playing word games to justify games like logging sleeper as off duty will normally make any slack the officer would normally offer disappear quicker than a Tucson ice cube in July. But it's obvious he's chosen to die on that hill.

Well they used to beat the sleeper berth drum quite a bit. After my divorce, they saw where some of my locations are spent off duty. And after the snap I sent him, they said they just would rather not know anymore lmfao!Oxbow, Thrasher28, broke down plumber and 1 other person Thank this.

Sleeper berth is only needed for team drivers and for solo drivers wishing to take a split break. That’s it.

Technically no. You're supposed to stay on duty while being loaded or unloaded. However, that's bull and I can justify being off duty during that time. If you log SB, I would put in the notes that you are not being unloaded and you are going to bed. Something, so that DOT knows you weren't trying to log SB while being unloaded. Or you could just log it as off duty. It's not for your 10 hour break, so I don't think DOT would care as much as if it was. I never log SB unless I'm going to bed during that break period. I just sat at a receiver for 4 hours waiting to be unloaded. I was logged as off-duty, not SB.

Reg that states that? That is literally one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of this forum, and trust me, I've heard some dumb ####. Like "show me the regulation that states you must use sleeper berth if you are in the sleeper." I mean like, really dude?

If I’m driving a sleeper and take my 10 hour break, I’m logging it off duty.
I rarely ever use a sleeper break.
Normally I drive a day cab. And even prefer a day cab for OTR. Why? I can make my own time, stay at a motel and as long as I put up the miles the boss doesn’t care.4wayflashers Thanks this.
