When running as a team the first driver does a pre trip, when the second driver takes over does he or she have to do another pre trip if they are just swapping seats ? I guess the question is does the second driver have to show a pre trip in the log book ?

I have teamed and yes I did a pre trip when I would start my day and also if I was stilll driving after midnight then next day the next stop I would log a safety check

Yeah driver, the driver does a pre-trip, not the truck. The driver must be satisfied that the truck is ready to go.

If you don't DO a PTI and log it, then it is your rear end if something happens.

If you don't LOG a PTI...well then, you're just screwed.

Even if you just sign off on his PTI, then you are saying that you did one, and will be held responsible if something happens.

We just went over that stuff yesterday in class.
