I figured this could be a place to post this, since I couldn't find anywhere else and this would be a local job. Does anyone know how to get into logging? Is it ran by an actual trucking company, or would you be working for the logging company? Or, would you have to be an owner/operator?

In my area all three are the case. There are several logging companies down here with fleets, several trucking companies that haul logs and some O/O's. A lot of the jobs are advertised on craigslist locally, when there are openings anyway. Does not seem to be much turnover down here. Guess that really doesn't help you out much. Sorry.

There's always log truck jobs on craigslist here but most want experience so a guy would have to seek out a small outfit who needs a driver and is willing to train a newbie.
You won't find those jobs advertised ,you'd have to knock on a lot of doors and make a lot of phone calls but you'd find something after a while I'm sure.
Most will pay percentage of the load so it's long hours running hard to make good money, up here where I live (in da hills!) most of the log trucks roll out at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning.
Weyco company pays their drivers by the hour, last I heard it was $23 hr with time and a half after 40 hrs.
There's not a lot of turnover at Weyco and you need experience to apply.
