I have a old co-worker friend who went up to North Dakota a few years ago to work in the Bakken, havn't talked to him for a few months but last time I did he says it is really hot for hiring drivers. He started hauling crude then switched to frac sand and really loves it. His employer gives him the option of 4 weeks on, 1 week off, but he works as much as possible for the cash. 70 hr/6 day work weeks. Started at $75K now he's around $100K. Of course NoDak is a bit chily in the winter and the cost of living is high, but if you live in a man camp and work all you can, you can really stash the money away. There is the south Texas play as well but I heard drivers are not making as much money down there. I go up to Bismarck NoDak a few times a month, signs everywhere looking for CDL drivers. A quick craigslist check for NoDak shows 40! listings today alone for oilfield drivers and other drivers. I would believe all you need is a decent MVR and a pulse to get your foot in the door. Go for it while you can! Best of luck to ya!
