Is it just me or does it seem like most lumpers like to take there sweet add time. $254.60 to unload a trailer of pallets with a forklift. Shouldn't take more then half an hour at best, yet I've been here for 3 hours. My trailers been unloaded for about half an hour now yet they say there not done yet....

Lumpers piss me off. Was being unloaded at Safeway in Portland area; after 5 hours (the last hour they didn't get into the trailer at all), I went in to check, turns out they'd decided to go to lunch rather than finish the load. They were getting $175, didn't care that I wasn't getting xxxx for sitting there. One place charged $79 to take 3 pallets off with a forklift. Took literally 3 minutes. I'm in the wrong line of work!!:biggrin_25512:

    Ok here it is...
Tyson in Waterloo IL. We had a appt Friday night @ midnight to pick up a load and it is monday and we still have not seen the load yet and it is 4:00pm.
The company detention time will that will not start until midnight tonight monday... So I think I beat you all...
This is typical of ALL MEAT PLANTS.

I think that this is going to be my last load that has to deal with MEAT>>>>>>>>

Today I was at Price Chopper in Schenectady, NY from 4:45AM to 6:30PM. Granted it was due to a miscommunication on the appointment time, which turned out to be 5PM instead of 5AM. Would have preferred to be kicked out and parked at the Pilot down the street but oh well. Luckily it wasn't too far of a walk to the Cumberland Farms gas station right next to the DC. They make some pretty good ready packed sandwitches.

SO far on my van adventure my longest was from 6 AM to 1 AM the next day.
Shortest was some Sprinter's out of SC, 10 minutes.

That sounds like a lying dispatcher to me. They knew the load come out Monday and just told you Friday. Waterloo is usually the better of the meat plants.

Friday, they were just thinking about going home. A good weekend dispatcher would of pulled you off it and found you another load.

The various Tyson pork and chicken plants deserve recognition not only for longest live load detention, but also general owner operator abuse. The plant at Waterloo and Columbus Junction demand owner operators to drop their trailers, then go away. At the Columbus Junction plant two switches on my reefer unit were snapped off in their care. When, I filled out the damage report at the guard shack, I was asked for excessively confidential info, like my SS#. I haven't heard from them yet...

    Ouch.
Alcoa last evening gets a spot on list of, ONLY LOAD IN MORNING.
I scaled out and docked. Felt the forklift go in the trailer and go back out, did that 2 more times. Now, I'm waiting my BOL. I was there until the moon started to rise waiting on my bills. Then, scaling out to leave I have to wait for the shift to change. Pocketed $115 in detention.
