They could've left it 220 like it's been for the prior 50+ years.

I can agree with that. But it really is a stand alone interstate, not a spur or business loop. In that respect though, how did pa rt 60 run north and south since its inception, but when they got interstate designation, it became 376 east and west? All of a sudden lawmakers and dot can change the laws of direction and travel...
Trucker61016 and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
Well they had 10 numbers to use. Don’t forget they could have called it a spur off the Turnpike.650cat425 and jamespmack Thank this.

@jamespmack Look at this. A two lane with a 70 mph speed limit...

I had no idea there was any such animal.062, 650cat425 and jamespmack Thank this. -
If you take a careful look at how I-99 interests with I-80 you can see it is designed to be a spur running southwest toward Altoona and then on to the Turnpike and finally down into Breezewood on into Maryland. This is why I still think of it as a spur route. I agree somewhat with @MACK E-6 on that. I-99 seems a bit odd!Trucker61016 Thanks this.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Laredo, but seems like it’s 75mph on 59 northeast of town.

Or I-82 being north of I-84 and I-11 east of I-15. Not much they can do unless they want to create a new numbering system.MACK E-6 and Trucker61016 Thank this.

Go more than 100 miles north of the American border......then you might start to find some semblance of "remote"
not4hire Thanks this.
